6 ways to bring a Balinese Essential Oils Retreat into your own home
26.05.2025
In our last post shared about the amazing time I had at Fuller Life Bali. The way the Young Living products are infused into every space and every treatment is magical, and of course it made me feel completely at home.
Yet it was the treatments themselves which had drawn me to return there, even more than the healing energy of the land.
Imagine having 15 oil-infused treatments over 5 days, and what a wondrous gift that is for your body!!
In this post, I’d love to share with you some of the treatments that I dipped into at Fuller Life Bali and the Young Living products used, and how to adapt some of these rituals in order to bring paradise into your own home. Enjoy!
Treatment #1 – Live and Dry Blood Analysis

If you’ve ever visited the Nova Vita Centre in Ecuador, you will no doubt have seen Live and Dry blood analysis on offer. A simple prick of the finger and one or two droplets of blood is all that’s needed to give indicators of your overall health and wellbeing.
The live blood analysis at Fuller Life Bali uses a droplet of blood with a coverslip over the top, which is then viewed under a high power microscope. It’s a great indicator of the health of your red blood cells. Are they moving freely or clumping?
Clumping is a sign that your liver is overloaded, so that some red blood cells end up negatively charged and some positively charged, and they stick together in chains called “Rouleau”. When this happens they can’t effectively go down the tiny capillaries in our body, so we end up oxygen depleted in those tissues, which leads to aches and pains.
It’s interesting that rouleau is less commonly seen in people who drink NingXia Red regularly. That’s a great testament to how NingXia Red supports us to maintain great health – the way our body should be!
The live blood analysis also shows candida and white blood cells, providing indicators of bacterial, viral or yeast infections, as well as parasite load and plaque in the blood.
The dry blood analysis (see pic on the right) looks deeper into the organs. In this analysis, a droplet of blood is tapped onto the glass slide 4 to 8 times, and those droplets on the slide are allowed to dry and are then analysed under a high powered microscope.

This analysis reveals inflammation in the body, adrenal stress, hormonal balance and a whole lot more.
Not surprisingly, in the live blood analysis (see pic above), my blood was well oxygenated and showed a high level of health, which I attribute to my daily use of NingXia Red in the form of my Red Drink.
However, there were clear indicators of adrenal stress in my dry blood analysis, which was not surprising given the adventure I’ve had since my home got flooded.
Tip #1 – Drink 60 to 180ml of NingXia Red each day, to support your overall vitality, health and longevity. Although NingXia Red can be enjoyed neat in a shot glass, the very best way to take it is as the Red Drink. This ensures you are receiving extra bioflavonoids from the Lime oil, MSM from the Sulfurzyme, and super-hydration in your cells from the 1.5 litres of water you will drink each day as part of the Red Drink.
Treatment #2 – Colon Hydrotherapy
The health of our colon shows up in so many areas of our body. When we’re carrying excess old “poop” that’s become stuck in pockets of our digestive tract, this causes fermentation which in turn feeds nasties like parasites, yeast and bad bacteria. We don’t absorb nutrients as effectively and end up depleted. The overload of toxins (from both the poop and the by-products of these unwanted guests) then impacts our clarity of thought. We end up with a foggy brain, and low energy.
Gary Young (the founder of Young Living) always taught that when our digestive system is functioning in a healthy way, we should have 3 bowel movements per day, one after each meal.
That’s never been the case for me – I grew up on antibiotics and sugary treats, so my digestive system is a work in progress. That’s why I love having colon hydrotherapy when I come to Fuller Life Bali. In fact, the colon hydrotherapy I’ve received here has been the best I’ve ever experienced.
It uses a “closed system” (see bottom left pic), which means you have a therapist sitting there with you, monitoring the water pressure as it flows into your colon, massaging your belly, and ensuring a great balance of clean water flowing in, and poop flowing out. The glass panel in this device is where you see everything that comes out of you. It’s fascinating!

I particularly love my sessions with Yasmin (pictured above), who calls herself a “Colon Whisperer”. The sessions start with 3 essential oils applied to the belly. These are Release (for emotional release of tension), JuvaCleanse (which has the same frequency as the liver), and DiGize (which has the same frequency as the digestive system). These 3 oils work their magic to talk to your body, inviting a letting go and release process to complement the colon hydrotherapy.
Yasmin talks lovingly to your colon all the way through the session, saying “Thank you, Colon” and other words of encouragement and affirmation. At the end of the session I was served a delicious kombucha drink, which is a great source of probiotics as well as helping to boost immunity and reduce inflammation.
I’ll be honest that I’ve never had so much love poured into my colon before, and it’s been a great realisation that I need to do more of that myself.
Tip #2 – Rub 2 drops each of Release, Di-Gize and JuvaCleanse onto your belly each day. As you apply each oil (or whichever of these oils you have in your collection), shower your colon with words of love and affirmation, inviting it to release anything that is no longer needed, so it can be in ultimate health.
Treatment #3 – Raindrop Technique

This combination of ancient Egyptian and Native American principles, combined with ancient Tibetan reflexology and modern massage techniques is a truly holistic way to help the body.
I learned Raindrop Technique in 2000 at a conference held in Dallas. Gary Young taught an audience of 1,100 people from all over the world. I sat there enthralled as every step was projected onto large cinema screens, as Gary explained the purpose of each movement and how to hold our hands as we perform it.
It’s become my favourite modality, and I love receiving it and teaching it. Gary became aware of my work with teaching Raindrop Technique, and in 2007 he invited me to Ecuador to attend a special teacher training with him in Raindrop Technique. That’s how we teach Raindrop Technique at Aromatica (our college of essential oil modalities).
The Raindrop Technique I experienced at Fuller Life Bali was very different to how I’ve been taught. It incorporates fewer of the traditional steps of Raindrop Technique and a lot more massage, yet it’s so filled with love and intention that it still works miracles on the body. And of course you still receive all those beautiful 9 oils onto your skin, working their magic.
You even have the option to receive a “Vibrational Raindrop Technique”, which uses tuning forks on specific points of the body in conjunction with the essential oils. There’s no Vitaflex (Tibetan Reflexology) in the Vibrational Raindrop Technique, but it’s absolutely worth experiencing because of how the tuning forks call our body into “attunement”.
Tip #3: When I don’t have the option of a Raindrop Technique practitioner, I love to put 6 drops of each of the Raindrop Technique oils into my palm, one at a time, and I massage that directly onto my lower back and my upper back and neck (wherever I can reach). If I had a friend or partner available, I’d have them drip each oil up my spine and loosely feather it in, then the next oil, and the next, and so on.
I have V6 massage oil on hand in case the essential oils prickle my skin too much, as some of the oils used in Raindrop Technique can be pretty hot and spicy on the skin (especially on a warm day when the pores of our skin are open). Layering the Raindrop Technique oils onto my back like this has been such an amazing way to rejuvenate after long days sitting in planes and cars.
If you’re new to Raindrop Technique or quite sensitive to essential oils, start with just 2 drops of each of the Raindrop Oils rather than 6 drops, or use the “Kitty Raindrop” concept that I talked about in my previous bulletin, where diluted oils are used.
Treatment #4 – Massage & Reflexology
Every massage and Raindrop Technique at Fuller Life Bali begins with a foot soak. Salt is added to warm water, along with the practitioner’s choice of essential oils – usually Peppermint or Thieves oil. This is followed by a beautiful foot and calf massage.

There are various styles of massage on offer at Fuller Life Bali, ranging from therapeutic, to intuitive, to Chi Nei Tsang (a Chinese massage with optional microcurrent treatment), to Rainbow Healing Massage.
There’s also Deep Reflexology on offer. I had that last time I visited Fuller Life Bali, and it was very cathartic for me. My feet have always been quite sensitive, and I discovered that they’re the perfect gateway to my emotions when I receive Deep Reflexology.
On this visit I had a Raindrop Healing Massage and two Therapeutic Massages, and they were all amazing.
TIP #4: After every session at Fuller Life Bali, we were offered a refreshing glass of filtered water with 1 to 3 drops of Lemon oil in it. If you’re based in Europe/UK, that would be Lemon Plus oil, and in the US it would be Lemon Vitality oil. This is such a great way to hydrate the body. Both Lemon and Lime oil are amazing for aiding concentration, and very alkalising to the body.
Treatment #5 – Body Scrub and Head Massage
I loved this treatment so much that I ended up having it 3 times during this visit. Even after the first body scrub, my skin felt like a baby’s bottom – it was soooooo soft and smooth. This treatment has the added benefit of gently detoxifying the body by removing dead cells and stimulating circulation throughout the body.
The scrub utilises ground candle nuts and coconut cream. This is applied to the body and massaged in. As the skin absorbs the moisture and the mixture dries out, it’s massaged once more into the skin and it’s this second massage that has a stronger scrubbing action. This is then followed by a luscious head massage.
There’s a shower and toilet in each of the treatment rooms, so once the scrub is over you hop into the shower and wash the excess candle nut off.
Treatment #6 – Facials
There are 3 types of facials on offer at Fuller Life Bali, and I indulged in all 3. I didn’t have a favourite, as they all complemented each other to bring a beautiful glow and firmness to my skin.

The Botanical Facial feeds your skin (see pics above). After cleansing your face with coconut milk and exfoliating with a combination of ground candle nut and coconut milk, a frangipani toner is used on the skin, mixed with fresh Ylang Ylang flowers grown on site at Fuller Life Bali. This is followed with fresh aloe vera being applied to the skin directly from the aloe vera leaf itself. Honey is then applied over the top, and then cucumber slices are placed over the honey. It’s rather like decorating a cake! After your skin absorbs all that beautiful nourishment, Aroma Life oil is then applied. This is wonderful for enhancing circulation to the face.
The Fuller Life Lift tones and tightens your skin. It uses select essential oils and various botanicals to enhance the quality of your skin. The real highlight of this treatment is the massage technique used to create a natural face lift. It’s called AromaLift Technique and it’s developed by Miyuki Kazu from Osaka, Japan. This is a high powered anti-aging facial designed to restore the balance of vitamins and minerals in the skin, at the same time stimulating the lymphatic flow. A crystal facial roller or a microcurrent device is used to tone the facial muscles as part of this treatment.
The Facial Sculpture is based around the Young Living Bloom range of skincare products. The skin is cleansed with Bloom Cleanser, then exfoliated with a mixture of ground candle nut and coconut milk. The Bloom Brightening Essence is then applied, followed by the Bloom Brightening Lotion. This is followed by a facial massage and Japanese microcurrent technology, incorporating ionic, ultrasonic and ultra high frequency waves. The texture and elasticity of my skin was so significantly improved from this facial, it was exciting to look in the mirror afterwards!
TIP #6: If you’re not already using Young Living’s skincare products, why not explore to find the one your skin loves the most? I use the Bloom Cleanser each morning, the ART (Age Refining Technology) toner before applying makeup, and the ART Cleanser at night. I can see how much I’d benefit from adding either the Bloom or ART moisturiser into my daily practise.
After listening to Mary Young at her recent Australian tour, I’ve been inspired to apply essential oils neat to my skin each day (something I used to do in the early days). My favourite mix is a drop each of Myrrh, Helichrysum and Idaho Grand Fir, as well as either Sacred Sandalwood or Frankincense (Sacred or Regular variety).
I mix those oils in my palm and apply them neat to my skin at night. Once I get home from this trip I’ll be including Aroma Life oil blend as a morning application.
Caution: Because of the quality of the Young Living essential oils, these are the only brand I ever use. Other brands often contain synthetics and fillers which can be harmful to the skin. However even within the Young Living range, some essential oils are naturally warming to the skin as a result of their specific aromatic constituents. If your skin prickles, you can quickly ease this by applying a quality vegetable oil (like Young Living’s V6, olive oil or coconut oil) over the top. Washing with water will make the prickling worse, so the trick is using vegetable oil.
