Does your cup need filling with oodles of oily love in a tropical paradise?

8.10.2024

I have done a lot of flying over the years, so I know as well as anyone the safety announcement about putting our own oxygen mask on first, before we help others.

This is a great reflection for our life, too. We can’t give from an empty cup, and I’ve certainly noticed my cup getting a little low after the busyness of the past few years.

I decided it was time for a reset, and had the opportunity to visit Bali last month for a business development conference. I decided to arrive 5 nights early, in order to visit the Fuller Life Centre in Bali which I’d heard such wonderful things about.

This beautiful retreat centre was created by Frances Fuller, who started her Young Living adventure in the same year as me, ie. 1998. Located just outside of Ubud, the luxurious villas look out over rice paddies, fields of home-grown fruits and vegetables, and the magnificent feature pool.

Inspired by the Nova Vita Centre in Ecuador, Fuller Life Bali offers accommodation, healthy vegetarian food and essential oil infused treatments, at a very reasonable price. There is an uplifting spiritual feeing to the whole centre, and an abundance of happiness at every turn.

The centre’s staff greet us with smiles and hands in prayer position. Local priests love to visit there because of the energy of the place. And it’s not surprising that there are birds and other animals at every turn.

Being a not-for-profit organisation, the money we pay for our accommodation, food and treatments is used to fund the centre, so that Balinese people may come and receive treatments at no charge.

One of the highlights for me was my lunches with Frances. Frances turns up every day at 11.45am to share lunch with the visitors to the centre. At 81 years of age, she radiates health and vibrancy, and is an absolute testament to the Young Living lifestyle and her own healing practice, the Rainbow Healing Technique (not to be confused with Raindrop Technique).

The 5 days went so quickly, yet they were nourishing to my body on every level. I received 15 treatments in those 5 days, each one complementing the next in helping my body to reset and recharge. In fact, the benefits I’ve felt have been so significant that I want to make this an annual retreat.

I’d love to share with you more about this beautiful venue, and the simple tips I learned about how to incorporate the Young Living essential oils into my life in some new and wondrous ways. Enjoy!!!

My 7 Young Living Tips & Take-aways

1. Breathe your oils in using 3 quick breaths:

Prior to our morning Chi Kung, we’d apply 12 oils to our palms in succession. As each oil was applied (just a drop on the palm), we’d rub our palms together and take 3 quick inhalations in succession (without breathing out in between each one).

Then we’d do a slow exhalation. These 3 quick inhalations help to pull the effects of the oils deeply up into the limbic region of our brain. It was the most wonderful way to start the day and to invigorate my energy field.

2. Believe Shower:

This is Frances’s favourite way of blessing her guests. We’d do it at the end of our anointing practice in the morning (it was our 12th oil to use), and sometimes we’d also do it before lunch.

It’s so simple – place a few drops of Believe oil onto your crown. Believe oil transforms our mindset so that we can Believe in ourselves and in our dreams.

3. Lemon oil in Water:

Did you know that many of our essential oils are safe to use as a flavouring agent for our food and beverages? After every session, we were offered a refreshing glass of filtered water with Lemon oil in it. If you’re based in Europe/UK, that would be Lemon Plus oil, and in the US it would be Lemon Vitality oil. It’s a great way of hydrating the body, and an alternative to the Red Drink (which I have each day, this being a combination of Young Living’s NingXia Red, Sulfurzyme, Lime oil and water). Both Lemon and Lime oil are amazing for aiding concentration, and very alkalising to the body.

4. Healthy Colon, Healthy Mind:

Many diseases start in the gut, so having a happy colon is an important step in our pathway to health (both physical and mental, ie. for cognitive health as well). That’s why Colon Hydrotherapy is one of the foundational therapies offered at Fuller Life Bali.

What I loved about my Colon Hydrotherapy sessions was that each session began with essential oils. My belly was rubbed with Release oil and DiGize oil, and then Juva Cleanse oil was applied to my liver. And boy, did I release some “crap” that I had been holding onto!!! The glass panel in this device pictured on the right is where you see everything that comes out of you in the session. It’s fascinating.

5. Remember the importance of Low Tox:

It’s amazing how commercial cleaning and personal care products create havoc with our hormones and our health. In fact, many allergies and even asthma are linked to the use of chemicals around the home. That’s why Gary Young was such an advocate for a low tox lifestyle. This is easy for me, because my whole lifestyle is low tox. But for someone new to the world of Young Living, Fuller Life Bali reminds us to use the Young Living Thieves Range and Personal Care Range to clean our home and body. This is good for us and good for our loved ones (both human and animal).

6. Raindrop Technique for Health:

Raindrop Technique was my absolute most favourite treatment that I received at Fuller Life Bali, and no wonder. This combination of ancient Egyptian and Native American principles, combined with ancient Tibetan reflexology and modern massage techniques is a truly holistic way to help the body. When in doubt, reach for Raindrop Technique.

The Fuller Life Bali version of Raindrop Technique is a little different to the version I teach (incorporating fewer of the traditional steps of Raindrop Technique and a lot more massage), however the results were just as wonderful. Raindrop Technique is definitely something I wish to receive on a monthly basis, for the incredible benefits it brings to the entire body.

7. Make your own Happy Hair Spray

This recipe was created by Frances Fuller, the founder of Fuller Life Bali. These Happy Hair Sprays are present in all the villas for you to use. Into an clean and empty bottle of Bloom Collagen Complete,or a 50 to 60ml glass or PET plastic spray bottle, add:

  • 1 tsp of Copaiba Vanilla Conditioner
  • Half a drop of Mirah Lustrous Hair Oil
  • 2 drops of Rosemary oil
  • 3 drops of Lavender oil
  • 3 drops of Cedarwood oil
  • 2 drops of Lemon oil

  • 1 drop of Ylang Ylang oil
  • Fill up with water and shake

After you wash your hair, simply spray it on your hair and leave it in.

If you can already feel the FOMO setting in, let’s now take a closer look at what’s on offer for you at Fuller Life Bali.

A typical day at Fuller Life Bali

The Villas

There are 12 villas at Fuller Life Bali, and you are given a choice between an upstairs or downstairs villa. I chose an upstairs one so I would enjoy a lovely view over the surrounding rice paddies. It also meant that as I opened my eyes in the morning, I was staring at the most stunningly panelled wooden peaked ceiling.

The King sized bed was super comfortable, and I had my own sitting area, desk, large bathroom and vanity, and kitchenette. It was much bigger than a normal hotel room, and the spaciousness lent itself to an inner spaciousness as well.

Best of all, the products supplied in the villas are Young Living’s oil-infused range. There was shampoo, shower gel, foaming hand soap, Thieves Laundry Soap and more.

And the towels didn’t smell like perfume and chemicals!!! It was such a contrast when I left Fuller Life and stayed at a 5 star hotel in Nusa Dua. The “pong” from the towels and cleaning solutions there was almost unbearable. I wish more people and companies would become educated about the dangers of these synthetic aromas.

Swimming

One bonus of the Fuller Life Centre is that the pools and all the water outlets at the centre are run through a high quality Kangan commercial water filter, so visitors can relax and not worry about “Bali Belly”.

So my days began with an early rise and some journaling (you’ll find a journal and coloured pencils in your villa, to enjoy and take home with you). Then I’d swim 10 or so laps in the feature pool to invigorate my body.

This pool has no heating or cooling, so it sits at a refreshing and comfortable 27 degrees Celsius (81 degrees Fahrenheit). You can even stand under the elephants’ spouts, and allow the water to cascade down on your crown. It’s like standing under a waterfall!

Breakfast

Then I’d do a 3 minute walk to the restaurant, and enjoy a healthy breakfast of fruit, eggs (optional) and other delicacies. All the meals are vegetarian, and all dietary requirements are catered for – you just need to specify your needs when you book. Coconut water and filtered water were served at all meals. I absolutely love fresh coconut water – it’s completely different

to the store-bought coconut water, so I indulged myself with many glasses of this hydrating drink.

All the food served at Fuller Life Bali (with the exception of the eggs) are grown on site. Fuller Life Bali has 10 cows which are fed organic food, so that their manure can be used as organic compost on the fields. The manure is mixed in with essential oils like DiGize so that all of this goodness goes into the soil.

Chi Kung & Oils

At 9.30am there is a daily essential oils and Chi Kung practice on offer in the octagonal meditation space.

Frances has developed her own system of anointing with oils which she calls the Rainbow Healing System. So we’d anoint and inhale 12 different essential oils during our morning practice, followed by some wonderful Chi Kung to wake up our meridians.

Treatment 1

Then came treatment #1 for the day. On your first day at the centre, it’s common that you will have Live and Dry Blood Analysis done. Your blood is a wonderful reflection of your overall health. I made sure that I was well hydrated before my blood work, and that I’d brought NingXia Red sachets to drink while I was there.

My live blood analysis showed my body as being extremely healthy compared to most of the people who visit there. There was a very small patch of plaque present (see the shiny bits in the pic below), but my red blood cells were even in shape and not sticking together. It’s not surprising that I have a healthy foundation, given my Young Living lifestyle and my daily consumption of the Red Drink. However my dry blood analysis was another story. It showed the impact of stress on my body, and pointed to some areas that need attention. I work long hours and do lots of travelling, and my dry blood analysis showed that it’s been taking its toll on me.

It’s one thing for someone to tell us to “slow down and smell the roses”. It’s a completely different thing when we see it there in black and white in front of us, through our blood work. Our body doesn’t lie, and I absolutely knew why I’d been drawn to this 5 day retreat, and the importance that I build the principles of this into my daily life…so that like Frances, I will also be thriving when I’m in my 80’s!

Lunch

The morning treatment was followed by a healthy lunch including dessert, and always enjoyed in the lively company of Frances.

Lunch was served with a shot of papaya leaf juice, which is highly alkalising to the body and reputed to be amazing against cancer and other diseases.

It’s quite a bitter taste (great for the liver), so it’s quickly followed with a fresh turmeric shot, and both of those washed down with some coconut water and fresh Rosella tea.

Treatment 2 & 3

After lunch were 2 more treatments, back-to-back. There are so many wonderful treatments to choose from. In my time at Fuller Life Bali, my treatments comprised:

  • Live and Dry Blood Analysis
  • Colon Hydrotherapy (I had three of these over the 5 days)
  • A Rainbow Healing Session with Frances
  • Rainbow Healing Massage (this is a brand new massage that has only just been created, so I was one of the very first guests to enjoy it. I found myself in such a deep state of relaxation that my mind was in a bubble, quietly contemplating things in my life, while my body was somewhere else!)

  • Raindrop Technique (of all the treatments, this was my favourite. Even though the technique was a little different to how I practise and teach it, it was delivered with such heart that I sank into absolute bliss with it).
  • Vibrational Raindrop Technique (that’s Raindrop Technique combined with the power of tuning forks and their frequencies) – see pic on the right.
  • Balinese Therapeutic Massage
  • Deep Healing Reflexology (this definitely woke me up! It was incredibly deep and uncomfortable for my feet, but it “switches on” the various organs in the body, so I knew it would do me good and be worth the discomfort along the way.)
  • Botanical Facial (after cleansing the face with coconut milk and exfoliating with a combination of ground candle nut and coconut milk, a frangipani toner mixed with Ylang Ylang oil is used on the skin. This is followed with fresh aloe vera being applied to the skin, with honey over the top, and then cucumber slices over the top of that. That was followed by an application of Aroma Life oil, which is wonderful for enhancing circulation to the face. As you’ll see from this pic on the left, I looked like an alien (lol), but my skin has been feeling so incredibly nourished ever since, and people have commented that my skin is glowing!!!)
  • Chi Nei Tsang (Chinese microcurrent technology, although I ended up not having the microcurrent but asking for an intuitive healing and massage instead).
  • Detoxifying Botanical Body Scrub and Head Massage
  • Fuller Life Facelift (following much the same formula as the botanical facial, but instead of the aloe vera/honey/cucumber, a crystal facial roller is used to tone the facial muscles and provide a natural facelift).

A Late Afternoon Soak

After the day’s treatments were over, I’d go for a soak in the therapy pool. This is heated to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), so it’s the temperature of a beautiful warm bath.

Each of the pools has a covered platform next to it where you can rest after your soak. There is filtered water to drink with essential oils to add into the water, and an array of essential oils awaiting your use.

Dinner

A healthy vegetarian dinner is served from 5pm to 7pm, including a scrumptious dessert (see the pureed mango, coconut flakes, red dragonfruit and shaved chocolate dessert pictured here -yummmm!!!!). As this is dusk time, we did encounter some mosquitoes (not bad – just the odd one or two floating around).

Fortunately there is an assortment of essential oils sitting on the table, along with some of Young Living’s Outdoor Blend.

After dinner is self-care time, and the opportunity for more journaling, reflection, an early night, or a checking of emails (with the high speed wifi available on site for guests to use).
