I joined Young Living in September 1998. In those days we didn’t have our amazing Starter Bundles that we have now. Instead, we had the Essential 7 Kit. That’s what I bought in my third month of ordering….and it changed my life!

Having 7 oils gave me such an opportunity to experiment and explore, and I was having WOW results from all of these oils. I was so blown away by my results that I wanted to understand why these oils were so much more powerful than any other brand I’d used.

Now I know it’s to do with Young Living’s proprietary Seed to Seal process….but it’s also because of the powerful intention that Gary Young (the founder of Young Living) put into the creation of his blends. If you’re curious about this topic, read this past bulletin on The Art of Blending.

This week, I want to feature one of the amazing oil blends from that kit (which is also in our Starter Bundle). This is Peace & Calming oil.

One of my early team members (Judy) was a florist. It was Mothers Day, and she’d just received her kit of oils. Her staff were in awe. Mother’s Day is a very stressful day for a florist, and she was so calm and relaxed that day, thanks to having a drop of Peace & Calming oil on each of her shoulders.

She was in no doubt that the Peace & Calming oil had been the secret ingredient for her that day compared to the high stress of previous Mother’s Days, and I’ve never forgotten her story.

From Chaos to Calm

I’m a new member as of a month ago, and my first order was the Starter Bundle. I remember it vividly, because the kids were going completely nuts, more so than usual, and I thought finally I can give these oils a try.

I went through my Starter Bundle and Peace & Calming oil stood out immediately. I put a drop under each foot for all of us.

Within minutes my partner and I looked at each other and wondered what had happened to our kids?? They were sitting in the back of the car in silence!!!

In silence!! Our kids?? Wt?? Staring out the window, not fighting not talking just…content. It’s a very rare moment in time I’ll never forget.

When Boys will be Boys

One of the first oils I bought was Peace & Calming. I didn’t yet have a diffuser and only had one of those old style oil burners with the tea light candle. With my new knowledge about how you shouldn’t heat your oils I was hesitant to use it, but circumstances gave me no choice.

We had recently moved to a new community and my 10 year old son brought home a new friend from school. I was excited he had a new friend but these boys were so hyped up they were literally bouncing off the walls.

The behaviour was so different to what I usually experienced that I was at a loss for what to do to calm things down……so out comes my Peace & Calming oil and my oil burner.

The aroma filled the house, and within 10 minutes the boys had stopped dragging each other around by their feet and were sitting calmly. 

It was like a miracle had just occurred. Their whole demeanour and behaviour had changed drastically for the better and I was sold on the benefits of Peace & Calming oil.

An Aromatic Goodbye

This is my daughter Audrey, saying goodbye to her beloved bunny Monroe (Monroe was sadly only 4 years old). She sat and held her for well over half an hour.

On Monroe’s ears Audrey rubbed White Angelica, and on her paws she rubbed Peace & Calming before committing her to the Earth.

It was beautiful to watch her with her baby bunny. With oils applied, a carrot between her paws and a pine cone for her to play with, Audrey said, “I think it’s time”..and with that she placed her in the Earth under our Frangipani tree.

Tantrum on a Plane

I never travel without Peace & Calming oil. Years ago I was standing waiting to board a plane from Tokyo to Okinawa. The woman in front of me had 2 cute dogs and a 2 year old called Sophie. Her 2 year old kept running off, so she’d run after her, and I’d do my best to be helpful by pushing her luggage along in the queue.

Well, it ended up that she was sitting just in front of me on the flight. Her 2 year old decided that she wanted to sit in the row behind me, so when her Mum pulled her out of that seat and into the correct row, Miss 2 year old threw the hugest tantrum.

This poor Mum was in the middle seat, with a person on either side of her, with a 2 year old on her lap who was flailing her arms and legs in all directions and screaming at the top of her lungs. 

I had already felt that I was being a bit too helpful in the luggage queue, so this time I wanted to help without being too obvious about it. I started with a couple of drops of Peace & Calming oil in my palms, which I held in the opening of the seat in front of me, hoping it would waft through to Sophie. There wasn’t much change….but then Sophie ended up on her Mum’s shoulder, and I had the chance to hold the bottle a bit closer to her nose. She started to settle straight away. It still took 10 to 15 minutes, but then she was sound asleep for the rest of the 2+ hour flight. What a relief (for everyone)!!!!
