If you have fur-babies, here’s a product to enhance their life
30.06.2025
I’ve never had the blessing of having children of my own, so my cats are my family. They pour love on me every day, and delight me with their antics. I can’t imagine life without them, so of course I want to do everything I can to ensure they live a long, happy and joy-filled feline life.
They receive quality food (mostly raw), lots of cuddles, and they enjoy a low-tox lifestyle, with all their bedding, floors and surfaces cleaned with the Thieves Range. I don’t use any chemicals around my home (just the natural plant chemicals found in essential oils)…so I’m green and clean.
When it comes to essential oils, my cats have this hilarious way of turning their nose up and letting me know how much my oils “stink”. They’ll be walking towards me looking for a cuddle, get a whiff of oils (eg. if I’m doing my 7 Oil Ritual in the morning), and do a 180 degree turn to stride away from those wicked smells.
“Don’t you go putting those smelly things on ME!” my cats say.
However, there is one Young Living product that my cats receive regularly, and that’s Sulfurzyme. Let me tell you how that came about, and the benefits I’ve noticed….
Meet my Fur-babies!
My 3 fabulous black felines are 14 years old, and part oriental (the two boys) and full oriental (my little girl who’s from an earlier litter, but with the same Mum as the boys). I love oriental/part oriental cats. They are a mix of siamese and burmese, highly intelligent, highly intuitive, playful and don’t mind a bit of a rough pat (like a dog would).
I love the wildlife around here, so my cats are indoor cats with a magnificent cat run. It starts as a large 3 metre cube outdoor enclosure, with shelves in it that they can jump up to which takes them up to the roofline of the house. From there, a wire-enclosed corridor takes them along the roofline of the house, where it then does a 90 degree turn and goes out (still at roofline level) into the garden to another smaller 1 metre cubed cage. They can enjoy the breeze, the sunshine, the rain and the birds….but staying safe from the paralysis ticks we have in this area, and from the abundance wildlife.
They do a lot of jumping in the day. They are up and down to the roofline and back to ground level multiple times a day. And they love to play. Every now and then I’ll hear a squeal and one of them will be racing through the house at breakneck speed, jumping onto furniture, pretending they are fighting lions and tigers.

Crystals in the Urine – ouch!!!!
Many years ago I came back from one of my trips away, and noticed one of my cats crying as he urinated, then licking himself vigorously. I knew something was amiss, so I took him to one of our local Vets. It was lucky that I did. He had formed crystals in his bladder which that day had completely blocking his urethra, and he ended up in an emergency operation to unblock it.
I wanted to find a solution to prevent that happening in the future, and a local holistic vet gave me a special raw cat food recipe that minimises the likelihood of crystals forming in the urine. You’ll find that recipe at the end of this blog.
My cats have been eating that mixture every night for 8 years. It takes me about 90 minutes every month to prepare it for them, and it makes enough for 3 cats for 28 days (for their evening meal). Their morning meal is a mixture of raw food, a special tinned food that helps prevent crystals in the urine, and a sprinkling of lightly dried jerky cat biscuits.
One day, I had the idea to introduce Young Living’s Sulfurzyme into this mixture for them. I empty the Sulfurzyme capsules into the mix, and make sure it’s well blended through. I started with just a small amount (8 capsules in total – remember this is enough for 3 cats for a month, so it’s just a very small amount each day per cat). As they’ve gotten older, I’ve slowly increased the amount so that over the past year they’ve been getting 12 capsules in total for their month’s supply of cat food.
Then a month ago, I decided to increase this to 16 Sulfurzyme capsules instead of 12.
What astounded me was the immediate improvement in their coats. I had been away in Sri Lanka when they started on this mix with the extra Sulfurzyme. When I got back, I was so surprised at how much glossier their coats felt. I would never have imagined those extra 4 capsules would have made such a difference!
Sulfurzyme is one of my own non-negotiables every day. I have it as part of my daily Red Drink, and it keeps my body and joints flexible, and my hair and skin shining. It’s as important to me as NingXia Red each day. This is why….
Why your body needs Sulfurzyme every day
Sulfur is needed by our body so that we can have healthy skin, hair and nails. In fact, our body needs it every day to maintain the structure of proteins, to protect cells and cell membranes, to replenish the connections between cells, and to preserve the molecular framework of our body’s connective tissue. And the best natural source of sulfur is in MSM.
Sulfurzyme is a Young Living supplement which combines ground Ningxia Wolfberry with a high quality, natural organic tree source of MSM.

The wolfberry gives the body the vitamins and minerals needed to properly absorb the MSM in the supplement. This is the problem with most over-the-counter MSM products – they don’t give you all the necessary co-factors so that your body can best absorb the MSM, and you often don’t know where their MSM is sourced from.
Sulfurzyme is such a gentle supplement, and we’ve even had great results using it on aging animals – especially dogs and horses. Give 1 to 6 capsules a day to dogs in order to support healthy skin, fur and nails (the amount depends on your dog’s size). Capsules can be given whole, or opened and mixed into food. With horses, start with 1 cap in their feed, then increase by one cap per day up to 10 to 15 caps a day, then slowly ramp back down again.
The AU/NZ version of Sulfurzyme also contains the very powerful and emotionally balancing Copaiba oil. This oil is popular amongst the Amazonian shamans and practitioners. It’s also a natural “amplifier”, so it enhances the action of whatever essential oils or herbs it’s combined with.
In fact, Copaiba oil is quite amazing in its own right. It is sustainably tapped every few years from the Copal tree. The tap is put in, and the essential oil and resin pours out! This is then steam distilled to separate the oil from the resin. Wow!!!
Every country is different in terms of the claims that we can make about Sulfurzyme and MSM. Here are the claims we can make in Australia. If you live in other parts of the world, please check your local Young Living website for your region’s claims.
Australia:
Young Living’s Sulfurzyme is amazing for maintaining joint mobility, and for helping to relieve joint pain associated with osteoarthritis. In fact, It’s the subject of a book by Dr. Ronald Lawrence called “The miracle of MSM: The Natural Solution for Pain”.
Sulfurzyme also does the following:
- Enhances hair and nail health
- Supports hair and nail strength and thickness
- Helps relieve mild joint inflammation, aches and pains associated with osteoarthritis.
Artemis’s Fabulous Feline Cat Food Recipe
If you have felines and you’re keen to support their health, here is my super-duper recipe….

Ingredients:
This recipe makes enough food for 3 cats for 28 days (for one of their meals every day).

- 5 kg kangaroo mince (or any other cat-friendly mince). I like the Highland Pet Food brand, as this is free of additives and is suitable for both cats and dogs.
- 2 kg chicken necks, pulverised so there are still chunks of bone in there to help clean the teeth. I put the chicken necks 4 at a time into my Thermomix® for 3-4 seconds on speed 9. Alternatively, they can go in as whole chicken necks (one per day).
- 8 lamb’s kidneys, chopped into 1cm square pieces
- 500g sardine fillets, chopped into 1cm square pieces (I prefer fresh rather than canned sardines, so I source the ProSeafoods brand)
- 6 eggs
- 1.5 tsp green powder – I use Good Mix Superfoods “Greens+ Aloe” powder, which contains organic barley grass powder, spirulina, chlorella and aloe vera. You could alternatively use Young Living Multigreens.
- 2 tbsp of a quality probiotic food supplement for cats – I use “PetPepUp for cats“
- 16 Sulfurzyme capsules, opened and sprinkled into the mixture. I started with just 4, and built up slowly over a period of 6 months to allow my cats to adjust to the flavour.
