I have really happy memories of one of my oily friends visiting me 17 years ago when I used to live on the Sunshine Coast. She brought her young daughter with her. 

In that home I kept my empty Young Living bottles on display on some shelves…and of course she could reach those shelves, couldn’t she!

Before I knew it, there was 3 year old Sea’nah sitting on the carpet, surrounded by an array of colourful Young Living bottles, clutching them as if they were her very best friends.

When it was time to leave, she didn’t want to let her “friends” go!!! 

I love seeing how children respond to essential oils. When we introduce them to these miracles in a bottle at a young age, they grow up knowing there are always solutions to be found in nature, for pretty much any problem. “Nature over nasties” has always been my motto.

Sea’nah’s now a gorgeous 20 year old, and essential oils are still her go-to when she needs a helping hand. And her Mum makes sure her favourite essential oils are still in stock at home for her visits.

She loves sending her Mum funny memes of those “Mums who have an oily solution for everything”. It’s a great laugh for them both. 

I want to share some of the heart warming and helpful hints of how essential oils can be used to help our children. Let’s start today with the “under 7’s”. Enjoy!!! 

Oily Tips for our under 7’s

Many of you know Sophie, who has worked behind the scenes at The Oil Temple for almost 4 years now. At the end of March Sophie went on maternity leave, and on 4th April 2025 beautiful Norah was born. She’s a teeny one like her Mum – just over 4 pounds. This pic on the left is my favourite pic of Norah. I can’t wait to meet her!

My 3 year old daughter loves her daily Ningxia Red juice. She also enjoys the Kidscents toothpaste and shampoos, as they’re so gentle and natural for her little body. 

She joins her Mummy every morning for meditation and breathwork….and of course some of our Young Living Frankincense essential oil, too.

My eldest son used to sleep walk at night and have night terrors. Whenever I used Dream Catcher oil in his diffuser or in his “Sleep” roller blend it would help.

When my youngest started to wake with terrors at night, I knew to start using Dream Catcher oil blend in his diffuser too.

I also rub a drop of White Angelica on his shoulders before he goes to bed as part of his bedtime routine, to help give him a sense of protection and safety while he sleeps. These two oils are part of our essentials and come with us on holidays too.

There she is, our little Liv. With her big, curious eyes, she watches the bottles Iene places on the table for her. Essential oils? She has no idea what those are, but Liv finds it all very fascinating.

Mama gently holds a bottle of Lavender oil under her tiny nose. “So calming,” Mama whispers. Liv makes a thoughtful face — hmmm, maybe that’s nice.

Next comes Chamomile. Oh, that feels cozy and warm. But wait… what’s that woody smell? Cedarwood oil! Liv looks completely surprised, as if she’s on an adventure in a magical forest.

But choosing? Nope, not for Liv. Why would she? She looks up at Mama, giggles a little, and decides that everything is perfectly fine, as long as there are cuddles afterward. And so Liv continues enjoying her scent adventures. If there’s one thing a baby knows, it’s this: life always smells good when you’re loved.

Our little Liv has grown quite a bit — but choosing between all those wonderful scents? Nope, still not happening. Everything is just as fascinating as ever. What is certain, though, is that Young Living has helped us through some challenging moments.

The past few weeks have been tough. Mama and Liv needed a new hero, and they found it in Young Living’s Seedlings Diaper Cream.

My essential oil bottles are the favourite ‘toys’ of my 2 year old Angel, Tijania. She takes her time arranging them, and carefully holding, feeling and looking at them.

She’s the one responsible for turning on the diffuser at bedtime with Lavender oil in it. When she gets dressed, she puts her feet up to received a drop of an oil on the bottom of her feet.

She’s also a great intuitive helper when it comes time to choose an oil. I gave my partner a Raindrop Technique last night. While I did the Valor Balance, our daughter went to the table where I had some additional oils and she picked up White Angelica. She wanted me to put a drop on her father’s forehead. After the session he mentioned that this oil was just so perfect in that moment to clear his mind, calm him, and catapult him into total awareness. Our daughter chose the perfect oil for him.

Nighttime routines are important in our house of “bad” sleepers. Tonight in the diffuser we had a combination of Lavender, Cedarwood and Vetiver oil going, to chill out all members of the household before bed, including the furry variety.

We also love our little potion which we call “Sleepy Nigh Nighs”, which has Lavender, Frankincense, Peace & Calming and Valor oil. It’s used liberally at bedtime by my son, step daughter & even me! It smells amazing too.
