Artemis’ Azure Scrub – The Ideal Christmas Gift
14.12.2020
In February 2020, I held an exciting event for my Young Living team the day before our Australian Symposium. I wanted to bless everyone who turned up to that event with a special gift – a beautiful, inspired creation.
I made this AMAZING hand and body salt scrub, infused with the frequency and skin benefits of Young Living’s premium essential oils. And because it contains both Blue Tansy and Australian Blue Cypress essential oil, it’s BLUE in colour…hence its name “Artemis’ Azure Scrub”.
It was such a huge hit that I continue to receive compliments about it, and requests for the special recipe. And I continue to use it myself. It’s a special time of year, so I’m sharing it with you so that you can draw inspiration from this for gifts that you are making this festive season and beyond. Enjoy!!!
Artemis’ Azure Scrub
I’m so excited to be sharing this recipe with you, as I know you will absolutely loooooovvvvveeeee it. Please let me know what you think! Not only will your skin feel beautiful and luxurious after using it, the smell from it is absolutely divine!!!
¼ cup finely ground Celtic Sea Salt
I personally use the “Salt of the Earth” brand of Celtic Sea Salt. This beautiful salt differs from regular table salt in that it’s not bleached and it contains many wonderful minerals from the sea. Collected from the sea shore around Brittany and dried in the sun and wind, this salt is mineral rich and revitalising. It’s also my salt of choice for use in food preparation.
Coconut oil is a powerful skin antioxidant and deeply moisturising, and helps prevent premature aging and skin dryness.
However, it becomes solid in cool weather….so although you can use regular coconut oil in the Artemis’ Azure Scrub, you will find it will need warming during the cooler months.
That’s why “fractionated” coconut oil is a great alternative, because it will remain liquid, even in cold weather.
Orange essential oil is amazing for the skin. It reduces the appearance of skin blemishes and reduces puffiness.
Emotionally, Orange oil inspires joy and light heartedness, helping to dispel irritability, tension and frustration.
Because Orange oil is photosensitising to the skin, it’s recommended to use the Azure Scrub of an evening.
Lavender essential oil’s benefits to the skin really came to the surface in 1910 thanks to René-Maurice Gattefossé, a French Chemist. Google his name – it’s fascinating reading!
Lavender oil calms and soothes the skin, and stimulates both healthy circulation and renewal of the skin.
Emotionally, Lavender oil is an aromatic “Rescue Remedy”. It supports the “Chi” (life force) of the heart, inspiring creativity and self-expression.
Lemon Myrtle oil cleanses and purifies the skin, and is perfect to use on sagging, de-vitalised skin.
Emotionally, Lemon Myrtle oil is uplifting, and inspires feelings of ecstasy. It’s one of my favourite essential oils for its bright and happy aroma. I always feel joyful when I wear it on my skin. It is a little strong on sensitive skin (like Lemongrass), so if you pop it on your skin and find it slightly warming, put a bit of Young Living V6 massage oil or other good quality vegetable oil (like olive or coconut oil) over the top.
That changed when Cyclone Tracy hit Darwin in the early hours of Christmas Day 1974, killing 71 people and devastating 80 per cent of the city.
Now, homes in Darwin are built from metal frames instead of wood. The Blue Cypress plantations stood unused, until one man discovered the amazing essential oil contained in its wood. High in guaiazulene (which gives Blue Cypress its deep, rich blue colour), it is wonderful for regulating excessive oiliness of the skin and scalp.
Emotionally, Blue Cypress oil is soothing and relaxing, and a wonderful companion to a great night’s sleep.
1 drop of Blue Tansy oil
This is one of Young Living’s most expensive and precious essential oils, right up there with the price tags of Helichrysum, Jasmine and Sacred Sandalwood oil.
Emotionally, Blue Tansy is deeply balancing, helping us reconnect with our Spirit.
When you smell Blue Tansy, you will be reminded of Young Living’s “Valor” and “Peace & Calming” oil blends, which both contain Blue Tansy oil. Its rich blue colour comes from chamazulene, which is related to the guaiazulene in Blue Cypress. Azulene comes from the Spanish word “Azul” meaning dark blue.
Even the lid of the Blue Tansy oil bottle ends up with a bluish tinge, and it’s why blue was chosen as the colour for the Blue Tansy bottle label. Yes, blue is definitely its signature!!! I’ve got a lovely blue fingerprint on my wooden desk, from having some Blue Tansy oil on my thumb when I touched my desk.
Young Living sells their Frankincense resin in 3.5 oz (100g) bags. I took a piece of Frankincense resin, and ground it in a high speed blender (my Thermomix) for use in the Artemis’ Azure Scrub.
The Ancient Egyptians used Frankincense in their face masks, because it’s so rejuvenating to the skin, and such a restorative. It’s super-nourishing for dry, mature or sensitive skin, and helps reduce the appearance of blemishes.
Emotionally and Spiritually, Frankincense reconnects us to God/Spirit and each other.
