If you want thick shining hair and a body that runs like a Ferrari, Sulfurzyme is your answer…

I often get asked “What’s the Red Drink?”

It’s a delicious drink that you make twice a day, which has a whole treasure chest of benefits for the body.

Start with an empty 750ml NingXia Red bottle, or any other glass 750ml bottle, and fill with spring water. Into the bottle, add:

  • 30ml of Young Living’s NingXia Red superjuice (or 60ml if you want even more goodness)
  • 3 to 6 of Young Living’s Sulfurzyme capsules (opened and sprinkled into the mix)
  • 3 drops of Young Living Lime oil (use Lime Plus oil if you live in the UK/EU or Lime Vitality oil if you live in the US). Lime oil is high in health-giving bioflavonoids.

This is your “Red Drink”, and you simply drink two of these each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

I’ve been in love with the Red Drink ever since I did a 90 day team challenge with it back in April 2020.

If you haven’t yet tried it, why not give it a go for 90 days and see what amazing benefits it brings into your life? In the next 2 bulletins, I want to focus on 2 of the ingredients in the Red Drink, drawing some inspiration from Joanne Kan’s recent Australian Tour where she talked at length about the benefits she’s seen from these products. Enjoy!

Did you know….

Did you know that sulfur is the third most abundant mineral in our body? It’s essential for maintaining the structural integrity of our connective tissues, which includes our skin, hair and nails.

It’s also a nutrient that our body uses for the production of two important amino acids (cysteine and methionine). These amino acids act as precursors which directly facilitate the synthesis of glutathione, a powerful antioxidant produced naturally in the liver and cells.

Glutathione helps your liver to detox, repairs DNA, reduces oxidative stress and improves insulin resistance, as well as supporting liver health.

But how do we obtain sulfur?

The best natural way is to consume sulfur-rich foods such as garlic and onions. You can also consume broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. These foods are rich in glucosinolates, which convert to sulfur-containing compounds. And for making cystine and methionine, we’re best to consume meat, fish, eggs and legumes, as the protein in these foods is a source of sulfur used in the production of cysteine and methionine.

Modern food processing and cooking can reduce certain bioactive sulfur compounds found in fresh foods. While our basic sulfur needs are typically met through diet, many people benefit from additional sulfur support by using products such as MSM.

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a naturally occurring form of sulfur that is part of the Earth’s sulfur cycle. It originates from microscopic marine organisms like phytoplankton.

These release sulfur compounds into the atmosphere, which are then transformed and returned to the soil through rain. From there, MSM appears in trace amounts in fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, and milk. Although present only in small quantities, it represents a natural, bioavailable form of sulfur within the food chain.

If you love biohacking and want your body to thrive, see how you feel when you supplement with MSM instead of simply relying on diet for your sulfur needs.

Sulfurzyme – it’s sulfur in a bottle

How do you do this? It’s easy. Young Living’s Sulfurzyme capsules are my go-to for MSM. They are based on natural MSM, and they have the added goodness of ground wolfberries which provide all the necessary vitamins and co-factors so that your body can best assimilate the MSM. This gives you the ultimate absorption, and therefore the best results.

That’s why so many people notice an improvement in the shine and strength of their skin, hair and nails once they start taking MSM.

Quality is important when you’re sourcing MSM. In a cheap quality MSM, there’s a high chance of contamination with heavy metals, solvents, and inorganic sulfur salts. Young Living uses premium quality MSM, which is derived from a high quality, natural organic tree source.

But here’s something you may not know. MSM is also collagen-building, providing it has Vitamin C as a co-factor. And where do we get Vitamin C from? In addition to the ground wolfberries already contained in Sulfurzyme, we also have Vitamin C in our NingXia Red superjuice. That’s why we empty the Sulfurzyme capsules into our Red Drink.

In Australia and New Zealand, our Sulfurzyme capsules also contain Copaiba oil, which is very high in beta caryophyllene. Do a google search to educate yourself about the benefits of this compound.

How many Sulfurzyme caps should you take?

MSM is a very safe mineral to take. In fact, it’s almost impossible to overdose on it, because there’s no established “upper limit” like there is for many vitamins and minerals.

Knowing this, it’s important to find your own sweet spot. It will really depend on what’s going on in your body, and where your personal needs are.

MSM is the subject of a book by Dr. Stanley Jacob, Dr. Ronald Lawrence, and Martin Zucker called “The Miracle of MSM – a natural solution for pain”.

I bulged a couple of discs in my back about 6 years ago, so it’s an area that sometimes niggles for me. I protect my spine through weekly functional fitness exercises that strengthen my core muscles. This has been a Godsend to me. If I take a couple of weeks’ break off these exercises, I start to notice my back niggling.

Yet I also take Sulfurzyme every single day. It’s my best friend, and it feels like a lubricant for my spine and my joints. It took me a bit of trial and error to find my body’s sweet spot with how many Sulfurzyme capsules to take each day.

Personally, I take 6 caps, twice a day in my Red Drink. You may not need that much, or you may find your sweet spot is even higher than mine. Start with less, build up, and allow your body to give you the feedback.

Here are the claims we can make in Australia…

In Australia, because Sulfurzyme is listed with the TGA (the Therapeutic Goods Administration), we are allowed to make some health claims about it. For example, we can share that it:

  • Improves hair health and supports hair strength and thickness
  • Assists nail growth and promotes nail health, strength and thickness
  • Relieves mild joint aches and pains
  • Is amazing for helping to relieve joint pain associated with mild osteoarthritis
  • Maintains joint cartilage health and flexibility
  • Improves joint mobility
  • Reduces mild joint inflammation and swelling
  • Aids in post exercise recovery

If you live in Australia, here are some great studies you might want to check out:

  1. Efficacy of methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) in osteoarthritis pain of the knee: a pilot clinical trial, by L. S. Kim et. al, Osteoarthritis Cartilage, 2006 Mar;14(3):286-94.
  2. Wikipedia states the following information:

“The first scientific investigation of MSM for skin health was published in 2015. The randomised controlled trial used a 3g per day dose and included only 20 women. Results showed significant improvements in the number and severity of facial wrinkles, firmness, tone and texture.[30]

Another study evaluated doses of 1g and 3g and showed improvements in wrinkles, firmness, and hydration at both dose levels in 20 persons.[31]

The same author published a study on MSM for hair and nails from the same clinical trial. The results showed improvements in hair shine, volume, and appearance, and nail shine and appearance,[32]It was noted that 3g/day gave the best results.
