I first heard about Young Living in September 1998. I had attended a women’s networking meeting. We were all business owners, taking turns presenting our business to the other women present. I was there for my natural therapies business…and one of the other women stood up and said “I have a cassette about essential oils to give to anyone who is interested”.

I loved natural therapies and essential oils, and had a modest collection of my favourite oils from various brands. So I took a copy of her cassette. It was Gary Young talking on “The Missing Link”, and that one recording changed my life!

That was 24 years ago, and I had that “Ah ha” moment when I listened to Gary. What he said about essential oils made sooooooo much sense! At that time I was dealing with a benign tumour, and I knew the deeper lesson for me was that I was giving so much to others, but not balancing the scales by giving to myself.

So I decided that Young Living was the perfect way for me to give back to me. I went onto Essential Rewards (in those days it was called “autoship”) and I’ve never looked back. I’ve been ordering every single month without fail, for 24 and a half years. And it’s never been the same order twice. Each month, I order whatever I’m running out of…and whatever I want to spoil myself with!

I still remember my first 3 orders, way back in 1998. How weird is that? It’s because they were soooooo impactful on my life. My first order was Clove and Immupower. My second order was Awaken and Abundance. And my third order was the Essential 7 Kit (we didn’t have the Starter Bundles in those days, so this was the next best thing). 

I’m so grateful that Young Living came into my life. It’s given me so much more than I ever expected. I wouldn’t ever want to be without them. 

Yet I also joke and say that Young Living is the “Best decision I NEVER made”…and here I’m talking about the opportunity to share Young Living with others, and in return create some income on the side.

I was absolutely clear that I was only going to use these magical substances for myself….well, maybe I’d also use them to help some clients (just the special ones, right?). 

I’m laughing as I write this, because one of my clients (Margot) had such an amazing experience with Joy oil in a session with me that she wanted more information, and wanted to purchase some oils. And a week or two later I was telling one of my best friends that I’d just purchased a kit of oils and how much I was enjoying them, and she pricked up her ears and said, “Can I buy a kit too?” And then another friend wanted a kit….and so it went for me. 

And once I saw that I was earning enough income in commissions from Young Living to pay my mortgage each month….well, wasn’t that an exciting moment! My Skincare Journey

I’m very fortunate to call this beautiful human, Nicole (pictured here on the left), one of my oldest friends. She is the one who introduced me to Young Living and I’m so glad she did. I had some skin issues I couldn’t resolve and this one day when I caught up with Nicole I noticed how flawless her skin was. Surprisingly, I first heard about Young Living from my husband and daughter who had just come home from a market. Hubby treated himself to a 20 minute reflexology session while he was at the market and during the session a conversation was had about these amazing natural products and how you can make your own bath bombs, body spritzers etc.

My family know how much I love to make things but more importantly, NATURAL products, so they excitedly told me about a monthly meeting that occurred in our community where I could go and learn about these oils and how to use them.

The rest is history and it goes to show, you just don’t know who is listening or who will get the message. For me, my 10 year old daughter encouraged me to go do something I love and she was right… the Universe can work in the most amazing ways.

It’s a Family Affair

My beautiful daughter, Angelique, introduced me to Young Living at a time when I was really struggling with health issues.

I felt like my health was spiralling out of control. I’d just recover from one illness and I’d come down with another. It was exhausting and I felt tired and depressed a lot of the time.

It seemed to be getting worse not better, and I knew that antibiotics were taking a toll on my health. The toxic load in turn caused autoimmune and leaky gut issues, but I realised that if I was ever going to turn this around, I needed to reduce the toxic load on my body.

New Oils & New Friendships

One and a half years ago I went to a dog event. Me and Fee, that’s my dog, subscribed to a dog massage session. The man who guided us through the wonderful experience also let us use Young Living oils. There was also a stand where the Young Living oils were displayed. There I met Mieke, such a calm, nice and warm person! She introduced me to the oils.
