Peppermint Like You’ve Never Used Before…
13.08.2025
did you enjoy reading my last bulletin about Peppermint oil? It really is the magician of oils, with so many incredible uses. It can be applied neat to our body, put in water and used as a foot soak, added to massage oil for an invigorating massage, included in many different DIY recipes, and even used to flavour our food and beverages.
In Australia and New Zealand we have our culinary collection of essential oils, which are compliant with Food Standards AU/NZ for use as food and beverage flavourings. If you live in the UK/EU you would use your Plus range of oils to flavour food and beverages, and in the US you’d use your Vitality oils. It’s always the same essential oil in the bottle – the labels simply keep us compliant with the various regulatory bodies.
For our Australian readers, I’ve also included here some wonderful tips on our white-labelled Peppermint Wellness oil, which has so many benefits to the body.
Now, all you need to do is to grab that beautiful bottle, take the lid off, and decide which of these fabulous recipes is most calling you today. Enjoy!!!
Dreamy Hair Serum by Alison S.

If you are wanting to thicken your hair, improve your hair quality and support healthy hair growth then you are going to love this Dreamy Hair Serum! Not only will your hair improve, it will also calm and balance you at the same time.
You will need a 50ml glass dropper bottle, 10ml castor oil, 10ml jojoba oil, 5ml Young Living Black Seed Oil, 20ml V6 carrier oil, 10 drops of Cedarwood oil, 10 drops of Rosemary oil, and 5 drops each of Lavender and Peppermint oil.
Put the essential oils in first, then add each carrier oil one by one, finishing with V6. Shake well, and after filling the dropper apply a drop to each section of your head (about 16 drops).
Then give yourself a luscious 5 minute scalp massage. This is a very important part of the process, as the massage helps with circulation and stimulation. Do this at night, and sleep with the serum in your hair. Its calming effects will help you get a good night’s sleep.
If you want to give yourself an even greater boost, be sure to drink 60ml of NingXia Red each day! This is your hair and skin’s best friend, not to mention its benefits to all-over vitality and wellness.
Foot Soak by Kat G.
I absolutely love our beautiful Peppermint oil – it has so many uses. I always carry one in my handbag (with a roll-on end for easy application). I also have one on my bedside table, one in my kitchen, and even one in my car!!!
If I’m feeling tired, I put a drop in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together and cup my palms over my nose and mouth and gently inhale. It’s a great pick me up! Another way to use it is in a foot soak in Summer when your feet feel hot and tired.
Alternatively you can make a bowl of water with a couple of drops of Peppermint oil in it, then soak a flannel in the water, wring it out and wipe down your arms and legs and back of neck to cool yourself down.

Our Australian Peppermint Wellness oil has been traditionally used in aromatherapy to reduce body temperature and relieve a mild fever.
In fact, it has so many uses!
Peppermint Wellness oil has been traditionally used in aromatherapy to relieve the symptoms of indigestion, nausea and stomach upsets. I just rub a drop of our Peppermint Wellness oil on my midriff when I feel nauseous, then I cup my hands over my nose and inhale. I also love to use our Peppermint Wellness oil for nausea caused by sea sickness. I just put a drop on my thumb and place my thumb on the roof of my mouth behind my teeth.
So Many Uses for Peppermint oil by Fiona M.
Peppermint is such an amazing oil. I have so many uses for it. I put it in my mop bucket with water, and not only is it fabulous for the floors, but it also fills my home with its beautiful aroma.
Hot feet? Apply a few drops of Peppermint oil to your feet and notice how cooling it is. A friend who loves long distance cycling does this and raves about it.
You can even add some drops to your Young Living Lavaderm Spray, for an amazing cooling spray at Pickleball or a workout. I’ve had others ask me for a spritz of it.
We have a farm east of Perth and it can be unoccupied for several months. Every time I leave, I spray everywhere with Peppermint oil. I have re-purposed the large Thieves Foaming Handsoap Refill bottle as my spray (946ml), to which I add 20 drops of Peppermint oil and a squeeze of Thieves dish soap, then I top up with water. The house is always really clean when I return, even after several months…..no cobwebs, no mice. I also put a few drops of Peppermint oil onto sticky felt tabs around the house and around my bed. Mice don’t like the smell of it, so it keeps the home clean.
Peppermint oil is also great on flights. Just inhale it directly from the bottle, or pop a drop on the back of your hand and lick it off. You will probably get lovely comments like “that smells amazing!” from other passengers.
Bath Bombs by Amelia W.
We make lots of DIY holiday gifts but we always make a ton of bath bombs and shower melts as they are the most popular. This is our first batch of bath bombs that my son and I made today.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of baking soda
- 1 cup of citric acid
- 1 cup of corn starch
- 1 cup of Epsom or sea salt
- 3 tsp of oil (olive, coconut, shea or mango)
- 5-6 drops each of Eucalyptus Globulus, Lemon, Peppermint, Lemongrass, Copaiba and Tea Tree oil
- Approximately 2 tsp of witch hazel in spray bottle
- Optional food colour

Method:
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add oil and mix until no lumps. Spray the mixture with witch hazel until it is moist enough to form into shapes that hold. Be careful not to add too much moisture. Press mixture into moulds: let sit for 5-10 minutes, then carefully remove from moulds onto parchment paper and let dry for 24 hours.
Relaxing Diffuser by Marjaneh B.

My current diffuser recipe for relaxing after work is Ylang Ylang and Peppermint, then I change it to Northern Lights Black Spruce at night.
Last week, I added Spearmint and Ylang Ylang to the diffuser, and the recipe reminded me so much of bubblegum!!!
It’s a fun way to relax after work, without the calories and dental cavities.

Do you use a Breath Freshener? Why not make your own with this easy Thieves Mouthwash hack.

There you go! A chemical free spray to help keep your breath fresh, and it fits conveniently into your purse.

Peppermint Choc Brownie by Annabel P.

I absolutely love Peppermint oil in anything chocolate! My favourite raw chocolate brownie recipe is this one:
- 1½ cups (171g) blanched almond flour
- ½ cup (46g) raw cacao powder
- ½ cup (157g) maple syrup
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon fine Himalayan or Celtic salt
- 1½ cups (210g) raw cashews
- 5-10 drops Peppermint oil (add to your liking)
Method:
- In a large bowl, use a spatula to mix together the almond flour and cacao powder until well combined and you see no more lumps.
- Add to a food processor or blender the cashews then add maple syrup, vanilla, salt and Peppermint oil. Process for a few seconds until the mixture is creamy. You may need to scrape down the sides of your bowl.
- Using your spatula, mix the cashew mixture with the almond/cacao mixture in the bowl until it forms into a dough.
- Line an 8×6-inch pan with baking paper and press the dough evenly in the pan. Freeze for 20 minutes. I like eating it straight out of the freezer!!!
Mint & Choc Chip Ice Cream by Debra C.
This is sooooo good. Simply add a few drops of Peppermint oil to the recipe for that wonderful mint flavour.
Recipe:
- 2 fresh eggs
- 300ml thickened and pouring cream (which will make 2¼ cups)
- 1¼ tbsp sweetener of choice
- ¼ tsp Xanthan Gum

- 1tbsp vegetable Glycerine
- vanilla extract
Method
Add eggs to mixer and whisk until light and fluffy. Add the rest of the ingredients except for the cream, and mix until well combined. Then add the cream mix until combined. To this you can add whatever flavours you would like (eg. Peppermint). I usually add it to the egg mixture before adding the cream. Then pour the mixture into an ice cream maker. Churn for about 15-20 minutes then put in the freezer.
Chocolate Pudding by Cari H.

This is my absolute favourite and super-easy-to-make Dark Mint Chocolate Pudding, based around a recipe by Tess Masters, “The Blender Girl”. I leave out the almond extract and ground cinnamon, and use the Peppermint oil instead.
YUM, YUM, YUM!!! Sometimes I add Orange oil instead of Peppermint oil for more of a Jaffa flavour.
- 1 cup (240ml) unsweetened almond milk (strained if homemade)
- 2 ripe avocados, pitted and peeled
- 1/3 cup (23g) plus 1 tbsp cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup (120ml) plus 2tbsp pure maple syrup or other natural liquid sweetener
- 2 tbsp alcohol-free vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp alcohol-free almond extract
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of natural salt
- Cashew cream to garnish
- 1 cup (160g) fresh berries of your choice, to garnish
- 2 tbsp blanched slivered raw almonds, roughly chopped, to garnish
Method
Put the almond milk, avocados, cacao powder, maple syrup, vanilla and almond extracts, cinnamon and salt into your blender and puree on high for 30 to 60 seconds until smooth and creamy. To get the creamiest texture, you may need to stop the machine and scrape down the sides of the container. Transfer the pudding to cocktail glasses or ramekins, cover and chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours.
To serve, top each pudding with a dollop of cream, a few fresh berries and some almonds.
Note: This pudding works best with ripe avocados that don’t have any brown discolourations. Overripe or bruised avocados detract from the taste.
Hot Mint Cacao by Helen H.
My favourite oil-infused hot drink is a Hot Cacao with Peppermint or Orange oil. It’s the perfect drink to enjoy in bed on a Sunday morning!
I don’t use microwaves, so I heat organic coconut milk (CocoQuench brand) in a pot on the stove.
To this I add 2 to 3 teaspoons of raw cacao, and stir until the cacao has dissolved into the milk and is the right temperature for me.

Then I add 1 to 2 drops of Peppermint or Orange oil into the pot, along with a tiny pinch of Himalayan sea salt and a little sweetener (either agave or coconut sugar). I pour this into a large cup. This Young Living mug pictured here is the perfect size. Each sip is simply heaven!
“Energise Me” by Helen B.

I use Young Living’s Peppermint oil in my water every single day. I have it in the mornings before I run, I put it in my drink bottle at work, and every time I refill a glass at home in goes a drop or two of Peppermint oil.
I feel refreshed and energised, and it keeps me going all day long.
In Australia we also have the white-labelled Peppermint Wellness Oil.
Did you know that it’s traditionally used in aromatherapy to relieve pain and nausea and the symptoms of stomach upsets?
It’s the same oil in both bottles – the white label just allows us to make these therapeutic claims (for our Australian readers).
