Self Love and Oils – The Perfect Pamper Part 2

25.01.2023

A few weeks ago I introduced the theme of self-nurturing. And I’ll be honest – this is something that’s a balancing act for me each and every day.

As my ideas and creations and my business gain momentum, they become like a very powerful locomotive that can take over my life if I’m not alert. And when they do, my self-care slips.

I find myself thinking, “I’ll do that lovely thing for myself once I’ve finished this task in my business, or once I’ve finished this chore or errand”….but because there are always more tasks on my plate than there’s time for, it means I never get around to the self care. If that sounds familiar to you, just know that you’re not alone.

So how do we solve this dilemma of giving, giving, giving without balancing it with enough receiving?

Well, I love to set goals for the quarter ahead, and I always make sure that I have at least one goal that’s focussed around self care, and holding myself accountable to that.

But where do you start? Fortunately for us,Young Living has such a wide range of amazing products, and so many of them “hit the spot” in the arena of self nurturing and self-care. I like to choose just one or two aspects of self care, and focus on them for the quarter. Then once they are integrated and part of my life, I choose the next aspect, and so on.

In order to give you some great ideas, I’ve been running our Pampering Theme this month, both here in our Oil Temple bulletin, and also on my team facebook group (The Oil Temple Tribe). I’ve selected 7 of my favourite tips from the many posts and emails we’ve received, to include in today’s bulletin. Hopefully you’ve also seen my other bulletin in this series, from a couple of weeks ago. Click here to read even more wonderful pampering tips.

So if you are inspired by the New Year, and yearning for some extra pampering to rebalance the scales, scroll down and check out these amazing aromatic ideas to help you increase your TLC quotient for yourself! I’m sure you will love them!!!

Dip your tired Tootsies!

Sarah L. writes:

Like most of us, I spend too much time on my feet every day, and as a reflexologist and massage therapist I know one of the very best places to use essential oils is on the feet. I simply love to place my tootsies in a footbath of warm water and drop in an aromatic Foot Fizzie.

The delicious scents of Geranium, Lavender and Bergamot drift to up my nostrils and I breathe in their aromatic benefits, while the large pores on my feet take all the goodness of these amazing oils into my bloodstream.

My Foot Fizzies are so easy to make with just 4 ingredients – ½ cup Epsom salts (full of magnesium), ½ cup citric acid (for fizz), 1½ cups of Bicarb of soda, and of course essential oils. Make them on a dry (not a humid) day, so they don’t prematurely activate in the humidity.

Method:

Sieve the dry ingredients into a glass or stainless steel bowl. In a separate bowl, add 2 teaspoons of water, 1 tablespoon of Young Living’s V6 oil, and your essential oils. I use about 30 drops in total of my favourite essential oils (such as 10 drops each of Lavender, Peppermint and Lemon Myrtle, or 10 drops each of Geranium, Lavender and Bergamot).

Then pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and quickly mix them in until you end up with the texture of wet sand. Make sure you sprinkle the wet ingredients evenly over the dry ingredients, to minimise activating the citric acid. I then add some lovely Lavender, Calendula, or Rose Buds to make the Foot Fizzie’s look extra pretty, and I press the mixture into a silicon ice cube tray, and let it dry for 12 to 24 hours before using. Adding a small amount of kaolin clay or cornstarch can help the Foot Fizzies harden. I also love to decorate my Foot Fizzies with little stickers “Handmade with Love & Just for You” purchased from Officeworks.

My husband Rob and I love to soak our tired feet in these delicious treats at the end of a long day. And I just love to gift my clients and friends with these aromatic goodies to brighten their day!

A Journey of Scent and Memory

Leanne S. writes:

My little pamper and feel good regime is to put Joy oil on my wrists and Sacred Mountain oil on my heart.

I loved the story of why Gary Young made the Sacred Mountain blend, and it reminds me of my beautiful Dad who loved the beauty of his land, the outdoors and his horses.

I feel grateful every day and very blessed to live where I live.

In his personal blog ‘The Beauty of Sacred Mountain’, published in 2012, Gary Young wrote:

“Besides Transformation, another beautiful essential oil blend that I really like sharing is Sacred Mountain. It was one of my early blends after I made Valor. Why? Because at that time, I was living in the city, and I missed my mountains, so I felt the best way to bring my mountains to me was to create a blend called Sacred Mountain!

For me, the mountains are God’s living room. When I need to have quiet time to just think, brainstorm, connect, listen, get information, and download, I go to the mountains.

I have always felt very close to the trees; I love them. So I chose Spruce and Balsam Fir [now called Grand Fir] as the two powerful oils of the conifers to bring that connection to me. In addition, I wanted to balance the yin and yang, the male or masculine energy with the female or feminine energy, so I added a little Ylang Ylang to the energy of the conifers.

I always wear Sacred Mountain as an aftershave and a deodorant. I love it, and it’s really special when you use it with Transformation.

I believe it may support general wellness in the body and is very powerful in restoring balance. So if you haven’t ever used Sacred Mountain, get acquainted with it and incorporate it into your oil usage.”

Indulge in this heavenly scent

An V. writes:

My positive intention is to pamper myself even more in 2023. With this in mind, I’ve chosen not to be frugal with the Very Merry Vanilla Mint Collection (which was exclusive in our European Christmas catalogue).

I trust that this fantastic heavenly-scented scrub and body butter will either be a new product here in Europe or back in the next Christmas catalogue.

With these 2 top products, I create a “wellness & spa centre” feeling in my own bathroom at home.

Natural Skin Love

Katrina N. writes:

Skin love after an afternoon with my Charcoal Mask – my skin adores this!

I especially love the Tahitian Volcanic black sand, as it gives a really effective and natural exfoliation so my skin feels super smooth. Plus there are NO synthetic shortcuts here…it’s the best way for natural, kind beauty.

PS…it sucked out all my blackheads as well. That’s the magic of charcoal. Another win!

Tame your wild hair, naturally!

Jenni C. writes:

I have pretty wild hair but my favourite treat for pampering it strangely comes from the amazing Mirah Shave Oil. I get a few squidges out and rub on the ends of my hair after washing it, then comb it through.

My hair feels so soft and silky and the aroma is delightful! I just washed my hair so this picture is exactly as it looks straight after a wash. It pretty much stays like this until next time I need to wash it (need that much less often than I did before I started using Young Living’s shampoos).

Oily Goodness

Maria W. writes:

So it’s January pamper month and I LOVE using the Mirah range!

The shave oil feels so soft and silky, it also smells divine and makes shaving so easy! My legs feel soooo smooth afterwards.

I add the beautiful hair oil to calm frizzy ends and it’s perfect to moisturise my dry hair.

And the cleansing oil (pictured here) is amazing for makeup removal. It softens my skin and leaves it looking radiant! What a treat!

Freshen up your bed

Nicole Y. writes:

I love keeping my bedroom feeling sparkling clean… and I am the BIGGEST fan of the Thieves Kitchen and Bath Scrub! This magic powder gets its tough scrubbing power from:

  1. Nepheline syenite, a mineral we obtain from responsibly mined sources in Ontario, Canada
  2. Baking soda that gently absorbs odours
  3. Sodium percarbonate that releases oxygen when combined with water (providing a powerful boost of cleaning power against tough stains); and
  4. Young Living’s signature Thieves blend.

I like to sprinkle the Thieves Kitchen and Bath Scrub over my mattress cover and let it sit for 15 minutes, then vacuum. It helps my bed to stay soooo fresh!!
