These 4 products from Young Living USA’s range are essentials for any toolkit

3.10.2025

On my recent visits to the United States, I’ve had the opportunity to experience a range of products that Young Living sells there, which isn’t available in our regional markets like AU/NZ and UK/Europe.

I’m referring to Young Living’s “OTC” range of products.

OTC stands for “over the counter”, and these products are formulated to be extra-strong in their action. And wow, they are sooooo effective!!!

Because of the different regulatory bodies that each country operates under, the comments made in this bulletin are for the US market only.

For those who live in AU/NZ, we can still purchase these products, but we need to do this through Young Living’s “NFR” program (ie. “not for resale”), and we can’t advertise or promote these products for sale within our own country.

If you live in the UK/EU, only the Acne Treatment is available through NFR. The Thieves Chest Rub is available in your local market under the name “Thieves Vapour Rub”.

If you’ve never placed an NFR order before, it’s super simple. Just go into your virtual office as if you were placing an order through your local market. At the top left is a flag (showing your local country flag). That’s part of a drop down menu. Click on that drop down menu, and select the US flag instead.

Once you do that, a pop-up box will appear that says “Not for Resale”. It goes on to say that “You have selected to order from the USA Not for Resale catalogue. Products available from this catalogue will be shipped from a warehouse in the USA. Not all Young Living products are available in every country where Young Living is active. Purchasing these products for demonstration and personal use is possible.”

Then you click on the “standard order” tab, and select the products you want. You will pay international shipping, however you’ll have access to some wonderful products that you can’t buy in your local market (including the OTC range).

Now, let me share with you about this incredible range of products. Enjoy!!!

Young Living’s OTC range – clean and green

I still remember having chest infections as a young girl, and my Mum would rub a commercial chest rub over my chest to help with the coughing. It always felt soooo good….except it was full of “nasties” that I’d never use today, such as turpentine oil and petroleum jelly.

Because it has a strong aroma, turpentine oil is often added to perfumes, soaps, deodorisers and many OTC chest rubs. Yet research1 indicates that inhaling turpentine oil may irritate your airways and pose dangers for those with respiratory conditions such as asthma.

It’s so strange that commercial products would use turpentine oil in a chest rub, when breathing turpentine oil can in fact irritate the lungs, causing coughing and/or shortness of breath!

In contrast, Young Living’s OTC products (including their chest rub) are 100% plant-based. They contain:

That’s music to my ears! And they are cruelty-free and vegan-friendly as well. Here’s how each of these products works….

Thieves Chest Rub

Thieves Chest Rub is a 100% plant-based alternative to your over-the-counter cough and congestion relief products. It has a hands-free application method – simply press the open end to your chest, and squeeze so that a little comes out.

It’s lusciously thick, and feels very soothing to rub into the chest., yet it dries without staining clothing or leaving a sticky residue.

*When applied to the chest and throat, Thieves Chest Rub temporarily relieves irritations of the common cold (including cough, congestion, stuffiness, minor throat irritations and aches), while its aromatic vapours soothe the nasal passages and support healthy breathing.

It’s fast acting, and safe for ages 2 and up. Use 3 times daily.

Active Ingredients:
Camphor (5.3%), Menthol (2.8%) and Eucalyptus globulus oil (1.3%)

Inactive ingredients:

Sunflower seed oil, Safflower seed oil, Castor seed oil, Grape seed oil, Sunflower seed wax, Rhus verniciflua fruit & peel wax (from the Chinese Laquer Tree), Olive oil, Vitamin E, Ascorbyl palmitate, Glyceryl linolenate, Beta-sitosterol and Squalene, and the Thieves essential oil blend.

Ladonna B. writes:

My daughter in law keeps the Thieves Chest Rub by her chair, and rubs it on her kid’s chest at the first signs of discomfort. It keeps them sleeping and breathing better through the night.

Candace H. writes:

I love this DIY product that uses the Thieves Chest Rub. It was created by Cherie Ross. Put 2 teaspoons of Thieves Chest Rub into a small jar. Add 4 drops of Evergreen Essence oil blend, then 6 drops of Gary’s Light oil blend, then 4 drops of Hyssop oil, then 4 drops of Sacred Frankincense oil and 4 drops of Manuka oil.

After adding an oil, stir it into the mix using a glass rod or wooden spoon before adding the next oil. This DIY mix stays firmer if it’s kept in the fridge, and will keep for up to a year.

Artemis adds: If you don’t have Evergreen Essence in your local market, use 1 drop each of 4 different conifer oils (like Pine, Idaho Grand Fir, Idaho Blue Spruce, Northern Lights Black Spruce, or Tsuga oil).

Thieves Cough Drops

These are YUM!!!! They have a wonderful minty, spicy, and sweet flavour, without any processed sugar, dyes, artificial flavours or preservatives. And they are only 5 calories per cough drop, so you can allow them to soothe you without any guilt!

They relieve coughs and congestion with their plant-based ingredients, and naturally soothe sore throats.

*In fact, both these and the Thieves Chest Rub have been a God-send for me this past 10 days, after I ended up with something nasty on my chest. Where the Thieves Chest Rub has been incredibly soothing, it’s the Thieves Cough Drops that have been the game changer for me, helping to reduce coughing fits at night.

The Thieves Cough Drops were the one thing that helped to soothe my coughing fits so much, I could drift back to sleep.

Cool Azul Pain Relief Cream

I looooovvvvvveeeee this cream. It’s so soothing when I put it on my lower back, anytime I’ve overdone it and my back is feeling grouchy.

*With the natural methyl salicylate from Wintergreen oil and natural menthol from Peppermint oil, Cool Azul Pain Relief Cream alleviates pain and provides temporary relief from minor muscle and joint aches, arthritis, strains, bruises, and sprains.

Free of synthetic ingredients, this plant-based formula is the perfect natural over-the-counter pain-relief alternative. It penetrates deeply into muscles and joints to provide effective temporary relief, and it’s beautifully soothing and cooling to the area (thanks to the cooling effects of Peppermint oil).

In addition to the essential oils found in the Cool Azul oil blend, this natural formula also contains Camphor Bark oil, Safflower oil and Camellia sinensis leaf extract, alongside of Mango Seed Butter, Rosehip oil, and Aloe Vera to hydrate the skin. Check out the full list of ingredients here.

It is suitable for use on adults and on children aged 12 and older. Simply apply to the affected area, and feel the difference.

Maximum Strength Acne Treatment

This OTC product was created specifically for the treatment of acne.

*It uses naturally derived, maximum-strength salicylic acid from Wintergreen essential oil to help clear acne, blemishes, pimples and blackheads, at the same time helping prevent the development of new outbreaks.

It is formulated without any sulfates, phthalates, petrochemicals, parabens, dyes, synthetic fragrances, or synthetic preservatives. Instead, it uses:

  • Tea Tree essential oil to help cleanse the skin;
  • Tea Tree and Manuka oil to reduce the appearance of blemishes; and
  • Willow Bark extract to improve the appearance of the skin

Where some acne treatments leave the skin feeling tight and dry after use, Young Living’s  Maximum Strength Acne Treatment contains Aloe Vera and Chamomile extracts to keep the skin soft, smooth and moisturised even while it fights blemishes.
