What’s your favourite essential oil-infused hot drink?

22.05.2023

As the weather cools here in Australia, our taste buds turn to thoughts of warm winter drinks. I’ve been having so much fun checking out some of the beautiful cafes we have in Byron Bay, and ordering drinks like Hot Spicy Chocolate, or Turmeric Latte. YUM!!!!

But the great news is that we can bring these little indulgences home as well. Did you know that Young Living has a range of oils which can be used as food and beverage flavouring agents? In AU/NZ, we call these our culinary oils, and we have 39 of them. They are all compliant with Food Standards Australia & New Zealand for use in food and beverage flavouring.

However, every country is a little different. Whilst I’ve written this bulletin using our AU culinary oils, if you live in the UK/EU, you would use your “Plus” oils (the white labelled ones) in place of the ones I’ve listed below. And if you live in the US, you’d use your “Vitality” oils. This is because each market has slightly different regulations, so the UK/EU and US require their culinary oils to be in specially labelled bottles, even though it’s still the same, amazing, therapeutic-grade essential oil inside the bottle. It’s just the labels that are different.

Now, are you ready for a treat? Check out these delicious recipes!

Turmeric Toddy

Kylie B. writes:

Did you know that piperine, a key ingredient in the herb Black Pepper, enhances the bioavailability of turmeric? And we all know how amazing turmeric is! If you don’t, make sure you google it. So, here’s how you can enjoy it with a wonderful taste kick of Black Pepper oil.

Ingredients:

  • 250ml cashew milk
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom or drop of cardamon oil
  • 1 drop Cinnamon Bark oil
  • 1 drop Ginger oil
  • 1 drop Black Pepper oil
  • ½ tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 6 drops liquid stevia

Directions:

  • Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until warmed.
  • Add the remaining ingredients, stir, and serve.

Cacao with a kick!

Helen D. writes:

My favourite ‘oil-infused hot drink’ is Cacao with Peppermint essential oil or Orange essential oil.

  • I heat the Coco Quench brand of organic coconut milk in a pot on the stove (I don’t use microwaves).
  • To this, I add 2 to 3 teaspoons of cacao and stir until the cacao has dissolved into the milk and it is the right temp for me.
  • Meanwhile, I add 2 to 3 drops of Young Living Peppermint or Orange essential oil, a tiny pinch of pink Himalayan salt and a little sweetener (agave or coconut sugar) to a large cup – this Young Living mug is perfect.
  • Then I pour the cacao mixture in, stir and enjoy!

Always perfect in bed on a Sunday morning!

Afternoon delight with Black Pepper oil

Lucinda W. writes:

We have all tried the usual suspects in our tea: a drop of Young Living’s Lemon, or Ginger, or Cardamon, or Peppermint essential oil.

But today, my lovely friend and Young Living member Gabby Jane suggested a drop of Black Pepper… Wow!

What a power lift that gave my afternoon!  Who would have thought… I’m loving what wonderful ideas flow from our everyday conversations!

Mum drink

Kristy W. writes:

I just had to go and experiment with carob powder and a few other ingredients to make this “Mum drink”.

  • Soy milk
  • Vanilla essence
  • Carob powder
  • Leatherwood honey (as this is all the sweetener I had left, you can use whichever sweetener you like)
  • Pinch Celtic salt
  • Toothpick of Young Living Peppermint oil (you can use it to your taste)

Warm all the ingredients except the oil on the stove. Some of the carob powder made a few little clumps but were delicious in the warm milk. Plus, I could eat them as carob is sweeter than cacao.

Delicious!

Almond Matcha Latte with Spearmint

Robyn L. writes:

Please ignore my badly made almond matcha latte – the point is the SPEARMINT.

Ingredients:

  • Matcha (I use about 1/2 ½ tsp organic Matcha)
  • Almond milk
  • Honey
  • 1 drop Spearmint

This was a hot drink but I reckon cold would be delicious too.

Tangerine tea to make you smile!

Sandy C. writes:

Tangerine tea, why it just makes me smile.

Hot tea, frothy milk and 1 drop of Young Living Tangerine oil.

Smell the aroma as you sip, and feel warm from the inside out!
