Who’s been playing with your fruit and veggies?

20.09.2024

Don’t you love how versatile the Young Living products are? When Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak was first released, I was assessing how busy my week already is, and thought, “I buy organic and clean produce. I can’t see that I need this.”

Boy, I was sooooo wrong! I started reading the WOW experiences that others were having with the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak, and decided to give it a go. It’s now one of the non-negotiable Young Living products that I use every week for my fresh produce, and it is hands-down one of the best products Young Living has ever made. If you’ve not tried it – beware!!! You are going to absolutely LOVE it.

I’m stunned by how much dirt, dust and “gunk” there is on my organic produce. The produce looks so much brighter and fresher after a soak.

Check out this amazing product, and the many and varied uses we have for it….and make sure you do the broccoli test!!! If you’re curious about the magical ingredients in this product that make it so much more effective than using water alone, or even bicarb and vinegar, you’ll find all that juicy information below. Enjoy!

How to use Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak

This all-natural, plant-based, 100% biodegradable, Planet-friendly product is designed to cleanse your fresh produce of chemical residues, dirt and sprays before you eat it. It’s super effective on your produce, and cost-effective too…and it improves the shelf-life of your produce, so you win both ways!

After soaking in Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak and then air drying, I find that fruit and veggies last at least 3 weeks in my fridge. Even my fresh herbs last 7 to 14 days in my fridge (after air drying and then packing them between layers of paper towel in an airtight container).

We never know who’s been handling our fruit and veggies before we buy it…. so the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak gives us peace of mind knowing we are eating “clean” food.

Remember – this is a super concentrate, so you don’t need much! You just need 1 teaspoon in 2.5 litres of water. I just get a salad bowl, fill it with luke warm water, and pop in a teaspoon of the Fruit & Veggie Soak….or I add a couple of teaspoons of Fruit & Veggie Soak into the sink if I want to fit more produce in.

Soak your fresh produce for 2 minutes, then rinse it off in clean water. By doing this, I have never had any after-taste on my produce….it just tastes fresh and clean, and I have the peace of mind knowing it’s been purified with the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak, and recharged with the essential oils contained in the Soak.

Special Tip: If you add the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak in at the beginning (before you fill the bowl with water), it will froth up. I prefer to add it in at the end. It will still purify, but I won’t have to wade through beautiful froth to retrieve my fruit and veggies. But then again…you might love froth more than me, lol.

The Broccoli Test – simply WOW!!!

You absolutely have to do this!!! It’s amazing!

I bought a beautiful organic broccoli from the farmers’ markets. I soaked half of it in Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak for 2 minutes, then flipped it over and soaked the other half in filtered water for 2 minutes. Then I sat it on the bench, and took this pic. Check out the difference!!!

The left side with the deep, beautiful green colours has been soaked in the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak.

It really shows you how well this product strips the chemical and other residues off your food.

Why does water soak into the Broccoli after the test?

If you do this test yourself, you will see how water bounces off the broccoli that has been soaked in either plain water or else in a mix of Bicarb of Soda (baking soda) and vinegar, whereas water penetrates the broccoli that’s been soaked in the Thieves Fruit and Veggie soak. Are you curious as to why that is?

The Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak is formulated with four simple natural plant-based ingredients (Decyl Glucoside, Glycerin, Citric Acid and Sodium Citrate), and 3 therapeutic-grade essential oil blends (Thieves, Purification, and DiGize).

Decyl Glucoside (non-GMO and plant-derived) is a mild non-ionic SURFACTANT that lowers the surface tension of the water to help remove dirt and oils.

Vegetable Glycerin is also a SURFACTANT. This is an emulsifier that improves the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak’s ability to wash away dirt, pesticides, and other contaminants from conventional and organically grown produce.

SURFACTANTS have both hydrophilic (water-binding), and hydrophobic (water-repelling) properties. The hydrophilic action attaches the surfactant to the water. This is why the water starts to run through the broccoli after it’s been soaked, rather than being repelled and running off. The hydrophobic action of the surfactants attracts dirt and grease to it, so these impurities can then be washed it away.

SURFACTANTS play a significant role in removing dirt and waxes, and are far superior to just soaking your produce in water or a vinegar and baking soda (Bicarb of Soda) solution. That’s why you’ll really notice the difference in your food after you’ve soaked it in the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak.

You’ll absolutely love it!!! Check out these comments….

Belinda F. writes: Do the broccoli test – you will be amazed at how the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak cleans and improves the colour!! Just soak half of the broccoli in Thieves Fruit & Veggie soak for 2 minutes, then flip it over and soak the other half in plain water for 2 minutes, and see the difference. It’s simply wow!

I’ve already paid for this product with one shop! Organic markets are so expensive and not always a great selection. I’m so impressed with the flavour of produce after using the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Wash. I’m happy to go to the local fruit shop now, and I’m not experiencing the usual chemical sensitivities from eating non-organic produce!

Sandy V. writes: It’s brilliant with lettuce! I just wash it in Thieves Fruit & Veggie soak, then sun dry for 20 minutes and pop it into a rectangle lunch box. The lettuce lasts a week with no discolouration! I also add Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak in some water with bunches of carrots. It’s amazing how long they stay fresh! I love to use them as a table decoration.

Vicki M. writes: I go to the local produce markets every week, and even though my produce is certified organic, I still soak it in the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak to purify it before I eat it. That’s partly because I don’t know who’s been handling it before I’ve bought it.

What amazes me is the filth in the water after I’ve soaked it – there is so much soil and other residue that sits on organic produce!!!

Nat G. writes: It’s an amazing product! Strawberries are so bright after being washed with Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak.

Jeffrey G. writes: Boy, can you taste the difference after using the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak!!! The tangy, furry taste you get on your tongue after eating fresh grapes is from the sulphur dioxide preservative. Soaking them first in Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak makes such a difference to the flavour.

It has so many other uses as well! Here are just a few…

Cut through the grease…

Gemma C. writes: Add a splash to your sink of dishes (along with Thieves Dish Soap) and it cuts through the grease!

Stain Remover

Sally S. writes: This picture on the left is my granddaughter’s cardigan before and after treating it with Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak! The black grease-like substance came from the wheel arch of a car.

I poured straight Thieves Fruit & Veggie Wash on it, then popped it into a bucket of warm water with Thieves Laundry Soak to soak overnight. Then it went through a normal machine wash the next day. There is still a slight discolouration, but one more wash should fix it! Needless to say I’m loving this product!

Chantel J. writes: Anytime I have clothes with stains, I just soak them in 10ml of Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak before they go into the wash. It works every time!

Carla R. writes: It’s a great stain remover! We put a capful in every wash!

Cleaning Baby Toys

Jane P writes: After my toddler has played on the floor with the baby’s toys, I soak them in Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak. It’s so nice to know they will be clean and chemical free for her to chew on again!

Keep Cut Flowers Fresher For Longer

Sally S. writes: Add a teaspoon to a vase of freshly cut flowers. It helps them stay fresh longer!

Julie S. writes: My flowers are still going strong after two weeks – still bright and beautiful after using the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak in the water.

For Your Animals

Susan M. writes: I transfer the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak into a spray bottle and spray any areas that my pets have “marked”. It deters them from marking in the same spot again!

Recycle, Re-Use, Repurpose

Tanya J. writes: I had a lightbulb moment when I finished washing my fresh produce with the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak. Why not recycle the water for my plants (see pic on left). A winning solution on so many levels!!!

Marianne W. writes: After washing my fruit and veggies with the Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak, I pour the ‘dirty’ water into the watering can, then I also pour in the clean “rinse” water to the watering can and use both on my plants.

Emma I. writes: After soaking the fruit and veggies, I love to put the used water into a spray bottle to use on the indoor plants!! Recycle, Reuse, Repurpose!

Preserve Your Table Decorations

Sandra V. writes: Thieves Fruit & Veggie Wash is awesome for preserving my carrots (which I sometimes use to decorate my table!)…. and I’m sure bunny appreciates nature-fresh carrots that don’t have any chemical residues!
